Cobwebb + 2.5W = HB

After too many weeks or should I say months of mucking about I got round to making the proper Cobwebb antenna I promised myself before christmas. As is the way one thing got in the way of another but last week 'The Big Push' had me spending my lunch breaks at work knocking together a gash version to take away this week.

Not a fully gash version but one without a proper connection box or tuned properly.

But..I spent an hour or so wrestling with the cables this afternoon making them slightly symetrical  and hoisted the contraption on a decorating pole that got me about 3m above ground level and about 500m from the sea. HB9ETH was running portable and didn't have too many takers so I returned on 20m and we had a brief contact on 20m with me running just 2.5 watts on a dwindling battery. I was happy with that as you'd imagine. I tried a few contacts on 21Mhz and 24Mhz but they were just too far away and I had just too little power. I can take away the positive that this must be a personal best in terms of miles per watt for me. So here's a picture of the beast and you can see that its not exactly ideal
