I had an inkling to get my beacon station back on the air again. This time with my yaesu ft817. Same netbook, different rig. After several hours of mucking about and I mean mocking about I couldn't get the rig to talk to the program effectively.
Currently I don't have the patience or time to spend hour after hour trouble shooting this so until a better solution can be found with minimal googling the status quo is to be maintained.
I've had promising leads on beacon monitoring with cheap, softrock see receivers and low cost pc's but so far they have all been dead ends. I'm not helping matters myself by doing it myself but like I said time is something I have little of thanks to an MSc.
