An unusual operating position

image

We decided to make the most of half term by having a few days on Arran. The cottage we rented was compact to say the least and my 20m dipole which operated flawlessly from Troon gave a high swr when strung up outside the cottage. With not too many alternatives and the kids being noisy downstairs I went for a standing operating position Using one of the velux windows.

The were some good paths to Europe and the US on 10m, 12m and 20m but in the few occasions I did get to turn the rig on thus time my 5w and wonder whip were not good enough.

One of the guides at Broddick castle was sporting the latest issue of Radcom so we had a very brief chat before I got the 'stop talking radio and get a move' on look from Mrs g7kse. One of only 4 hams on the island!
