The last couple of weeks have seen a lot less time for radio. Due in part to uncertainty at work as well as getting some time out on the road on the bike and fells for running.
I'm pretty much sorted on the planning for the horseshoe WOTA-pedition on the August bank holiday weekend. Need some more time doing the physical training needed to cover the miles on the fells. The good thing about being out on the bike is that I did a lovely 55 mile loop up Newlands and Whinlatter passes after work that went past Ennerdale the other evening which had great views of the horseshoe.
I'm also considering putting an APRS gateway at home using my netbook and some form of APRS rig like a kenwood D710 that could sit in the car but VHF coverage here is a bit 'westerley' because of the hills. I may get hold of a Fox Delta TNC and see how it goes with the FT817. Decisions Decisions
I built a TNC using a similar design to the Fox Delta and it is pretty poor at decoding. I may know of a D710 for sale locally, though...
