GB5RER - L'al Ratty

The Workington club is setting up a special event station this weekend at the ravenglass railway, otherwise known as l'al ratty, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year from being closed and dismantled. The railway is a narrow gauge railway (3ft) originally set up in 1875 to transport iron ore from the eskdale valley to ravenglass. Its had a difficult past due to the iron ore and ended up carrying passengers from very early on. Nowadays it's locos travel around 6000 miles a year transporting passengers along the beautiful valley to boot.

The call sign will be GB5RER . I've no details on the bands yet but if its like SOS week then it'll be 20m, 40m & 80m and possibly 17m. Operating from a redundant signal box from around 10am this Saturday morning the station will be active on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
